@RIM – Aik Saath support safeguarding at Research in Motion – part 1

So, today I went down to the BlackBerry offices in Slough. YES Slough is going up in the world, the industrial estate is booming with the likes of HTC, Research In Motion (RIM- makers of BlackBerry), O2 and even the likes of Burger King offices, Lego and some car showrooms too. WOW

Besides all that and back to the point, at Aik Saath, the community cohesion charity i have been volunteering for about 2 years now, we are working with BlackBerry on a safeguarding project to help BlackBerry redeem its great name in the phone industry and tell the world why BBM is amazing !! Yes you heard, BBM is the original, its the authentic, its the best way for instant messaging on a mobile device. Debate anyone? Then twit me on twitter.

Anyway, so we went down to BlackBerry in slough (click here to see the picture, sorry no direct posting, not because i cant do it, but because I want you to see all the amazing people that went there), and were greeted with great pizza (yes i love pizza, and dominoes was great especially after a pizza hut buffet).

We discussed the ways we use our blackberrys, the way we communicate (especially discussing the great uses of the awesomly-great BBM), and how its actually all a positive thing as long as people are aware of the dangers. We discussed ideas on ways to educate the parents worried about their children using technology (especially the technophobe parents) and discussed how young children need to be made aware of the dangers of using technology to communicate with people they may or may not know!

A full summary will be posted, once the official training pack has been generated, if it doesnt go up, bother me on twitter.

Tomorrow we will film a new advert/video for BlackBerry, again about the positive uses of BlackBerry messenger and to tell the world (especially after the London rioting), that BBM is great, and remind the media that BBM is only a tool and a very good one. Its up to the user how they decide to use it.

So for everyone hating on BlackBerry and BBM, watch out, as volunteers from Aik Saath are about to tell you the better side of the story!

Part 2 will be posted tomorrow after the filming.

Keep smiling, stay safe: online and everywhere !
